Steppin’ Out Dance - Helen Andrade

Helen has been dancing for over 40 years, studying everything from Flamenco, Ballet and Belly Dancing to Ballroom, Latin Dance and Argentinean Tango. Helen has been trained by all the top dance studios in San Francisco and has been instructing for 30+ years. She began her training in Ballroom with Arthur Murray in 1979 and continued with the Bob Dean Dance Studios, Hinton-Pick and the Renaissance Studio in San Francisco to Frank Flores of Allegro Ballroom and Jessica and Gustavo Hornos of Argentine Tango fame! Her love for Salsa dancing began in the “club circuit” in San Francisco where she learned by experience, dancing with some of the City’s best “Salseros”. Helen has also studied acting with ACT, does Voice-Overs for radio and has been singing in choirs for most of her life. (Traditional hymns, Show Tunes, Jazz and Gospel). She also loves to entertain for parties and special events as well as fundraisers.

She taught in Sonoma County at the Hannah Boys Center, The Dance Palace in Point Reyes, Bodyworks Yoga Studio, Yoga One, Suzanne's School of Dance, Petaluma Ballet, Apple Valley Rehabilitation Center, Zenergy, Petaluma Parks and Recreation and Footloose Dance Center, Ballroom by John Ross, Contessi Ballet/North Bay Performing Arts Center and O'Brien Center of the Arts.

Helen has a special passion for working with seniors and the disable and has designed a “Modified Dance Program” for all levels of  Senior Care called “a Dance to Remember”.

Currently, she teaches both group and private lessons to all ages from beginning to intermediate.  She has a lot of patience and good humor, which helps students to relax, have fun and enjoy the learning process.

She has also taught youth dance programs at Harvest Christian School and Mary Collins Elementary School.

New to the Sioux Falls area in South Dakota, Helen is hoping to bring the joy of dancing to her students!

My student’s commitment to me

  1. Be on Time.

  2. Please allow 24 hours notice of any changes or cancellations, otherwise, there will be a charge for the lessons missed

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness! Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, praise Him with timbrel and dancing; praise Him with the strings and pipe! Praise Him with the clash of cymbals, praise Him with resounding cymbals! Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord!”

Great having Helen teaching ballroom in Sonoma!  I will  be completing her Swing Series in April and looking forward to Salsa in May. Helen is a wonderful instructor with easy to follow instructions.  She makes you feel comfortable and teaches to your pace and ability level regardless of experience or lack thereof

We held a Western Barbecue at the Richmond Yacht Club and the highlight of the evening was Helen teaching us Country Line Dancing and the Two Step. She was extremely patient as she guided us through the different steps. Everyone had a a great time!  The next time you are having a special event I recommend Helen to get everyone off their chairs and start dancing. HeeHaw!!

Helen is a gracious, accomplished - and patient dance teacher.  She knows dance from her core and does a stellar job transmitting it to a wide range of learners at a variety of levels.  Helen takes one through the challenging, and sometimes frustrating passages of the learning process in the most skillful and helpful ways. My wife and I appreciate her very much and look forward to more lessons.
